That Day In Trafalgar Square

First there were all the local demonstrations outside town halls all over the country which went from vocal to riots, and then came the big day, I only have 3 pictures left.
This is around 4:30 pm according to this account and as far as I was concerned at the time this is when trouble erupted, i only found out later that trouble had actually already been going on for a while but me and
the other people around me were blissfully unaware of any previous ruckus and the police vans trying to drive through a crowd that could not enter Trafalgar square due to the amount of people already there upset us and all hell broke lose.
 Another picture taken shortly after.
this one a grainy enlargement from a picture taken from the scaffolding that was later set on fire.

Mental day that was, I remember clearly the police telling us "we're here to help you" while bashing us with their shields, and that is to a bunch of people not actually doing anything reprehensible at the time.
Running past a smashed jewellery shop window and thinking "nope they are a bit too close on my ass for me to stop and shop".
And I got my 15 seconds of fame TV appearance from that day.

  1. we've got a book coming out this month about free-parties and all that nonsense - the inside cover is a wicked photo of Trafalgar Square from one of the anti-CJB marches, taken by Matty Smith:
